 About Our School 

Welcome to
Nanbu Junior High School!


We are located in Nagareyama, Chiba, which is close to Tokyo, Japan.
Our school was established in 1947. It's name, "Nanbu", is Japanese for "southern area" because it is located in the southern area of Nagareyama.
 
In Japan, junior high school consists of seventh, eighth and ninth grades.
Our school has almost 250 students in each grade. All together, there are 740 students at our school.
 
The classes that Japanese junior high school students attend are:
  • math

  • social studies
  • Japanese
  • English
  • physical education (P.E.)
  • art
  • music
  • home economics
  • wood shop
  • metal shop and
  • health.
 
Almost every junior high student in Japan joins an after-school club or team and is a member of that club for all three years of junior high.
